What
was the first piece of music you ever bought?
Aerosmith - "Toys
in the Attic."
"Foreigner
4."
"Dance, Dance,
Dance" by Chic (it was a 45!).
God knows, I remember
buying a Harry Connick Jr. tape at the Fair when I was pretty young.
The Go-Gos, "Beauty
and the Beat." I kinda relied on my sibling's music until something
came out that they didn't have. I got it on cassette. In fact, I just
gave the cassette to Good Will and a friend of mine was appalled I'd
give away such a classic. Ooh, my friend and I also bought the Footloose
soundtrack on vinyl. I don't know how we split it. We felt way cool.
I bet I still know the damn thing by heart. Ah, the Eighties.
The Osmonds, "One
Bad Apple" (I think that's the title). I was five!
Donna Summer.
I think it was
Styx "At The Paradise Theatre." I remember getting "Really
Rosie," but I'm pretty sure that my parents hooked me up with
that.
Styx "Mr. Roboto."
Tears For Fears'
"Songs From The Big Chair."
Andy Gibb 7".
Jerry Lee Lewis,
"Great Balls of Fire."
Have
you ever seen a dead human body? Whose was it?
Yes, our neighbor
Martha.
Yes. At a funeral.
Lord no, thank
god. It's not something I look forward to. My mom asked if I wanted
to check out my grandfather before they shut the coffin. When she
saw me hesitate she said, "Nah, better you should remember him
alive." That was a good idea.
Yes. My childhood
best friend's father was shot and I saw it.
Nope. Not that
I remember anyway.
NO. That would
freak me out.
Yes! Ruth Buzzy
[Editor's note: Hey man, don't diss the Buzz!].
Yes. My Grandfather's.
Yes - a stranger
just killed in a traffic accident in Mexico, my uncle, my great-grandmother,
my cousin, my best friend from junior high. Yikes, that's a lot!
A priest at a
Catholic school, and we had to file by his coffin.
Stop
and listen. Please describe the sounds you hear.
Footsteps, distant
chatting, the motor of my brain.
Howard stern on
TV's E!.
Traffic, ceiling
fan, television, keyboard clacking.
The air conditioner
softly buzzing and whirling, somewhere someone's taking a shower,
a couple birds outside (as opposed to the birds that are actually
inside the apartment). That's it, I think.
The computer is
making weird noises, but other than that it's pretty silent.
Computer's buzzing,
Marcy Playground's "It's Saturday" song, and our computer
guy's voice.
Hiss, humm.
A distant airplane.
A car just drove down my street with a satisfying whoosh. I don't
hear it now, but my neighbor's broken car alarm will be sounding momentarily.
Birds chirping.
Bird cleaning. Car starting. Radio. Keyboard clicking. Fan from computer.
Strange distant unrecognizable hum.
The hum of my
computer; various birds.
I hear the Police
singing "Every little thing ..." on the radio, the microwave high
pitched beep and the HVAC
Air conditioner
in my room, fireworks outside. It's the Fourth of July.
The air conditioner.
The creaking of my desk as I rearrange my legs. The keys on the keyboard
when I type. And "Porky's Two" coming from the other room.
Forgive me, I haven't had the energy to get up and change it since
Ben Stein ended.
How many languages can you speak? What are they?
English (sometimes),
used to be fluent in Spanish.
One. English.
Two if you include "speaking" American Sign Language.
One really, English
obviously. But I've taken German, Spanish and French before and right
now I'm taking Italian - I'm learning that pretty well.
ENGLISH!!!
Well, English,
duh. I was once considered proficient in French. Don't know if I still
am. Took Yiddish for a couple of years. I'm studying American Sign
right now. I can read and "pronounce" Hebrew as long as
they use vowels. I don't know what it means though. They neglected
to teach us that. I was in Mexico this weekend and my friends made
me order lunch in Spanish. I don't think ordering fish tacos counts,
though. I live in LA; it's time I learn Spanish.
One. Just English.
I know, I know, I'm a typical American.
Three. English,
American, Pig Latin.
Three - English
(no, really! I mean it!), Spanish and Italian.
English real good,
French pretty good, Spanish little bit, I can read and speak Hebrew
but I don't know what I'm saying.
Almost fluent
in English.
How
old were you when you lost your virginity? Would you have it happen
the same way if you had the chance to change it?
I was 13 and I
wouldn't change a thing. Priceless.
17. Yes.
24. I think so.
Bad question
- no one wants to remember that! I would definitely change it if I
could - at the very least change the person.
16. I would not
change a thing.
Hmmm, I was 20
(we're strictly talking intercourse here, right? 'Cause I go by the
Clinton definition.). I waited for the right guy (nobody before was
worth it), and the setting was nice. The event was actually mostly
quite pleasant but things got kind of fucked up (no pun intended).
I kinda took on his hangups. I should have done it earlier in our
relationship, before the pressure (my own) got to me. When we were
still fancy free. Whatever. It sure is fun now.
17. No.
Young ... around
10! No, fucking in my fort was cool!
17. Hell yeah
I'd change it. I really think I just wanted to do it, so romance was
not an issue.
16. I don't know
how you could change something you don't know anything about, without
first having experienced it.
17. Yes - it may
have been nice to do it for reasons other than being mad at my mom.
I think I was
16. It was with someone I was dating for a year or so and he was sweet
so I wouldn't change a thing.
I still haven't
lost it and I wouldn't change it at all.
