| "Tommy. I was eight
and did it ever fuck me up. My mom was gonna drop me off at my grandmother's
before taking my three older siblings, but at the last minute she took
me, too. I'm still afraid of Tina Turner." |
"My best friend and I talked her
mom into taking us to see One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Her mom
thought it was a comedy and readily agreed. We we got to the theater
she was appalled that we'd tricked her into taking us. Being
the bratty kids we were, we were able to whine our way in past her objections.
I remember liking the movie, but not really understanding it (I was a very
sheltered 13 when the movie was released)." |
"When I was in second grade I begged
my mother to take me to see the original Exorcist movie. I must have
really annoyed her, because she finally gave in and took me, along with
my brother, who is four years younger than me! What was she thinking??
Well, we lasted through the head spinning scene.... I had nightmares
for years and swore off brass beds for the rest of my life. I still
have never seen the rest of the movie and I change the channel when it
is advertised or on in rerun." |
"Excalibur. It was
this big deal that my neighbor just got cable and we were roughly ten or
so. I remember jonesing over that movie because there were naked
chicks and swords. When you're ten that's like the best you can get.
I wish I were still ten." |
